Interracial Couples BLM Experiences

‘How did interracial couples experience the anti-racist protests (BLM) in the UK from May to July 2020?’. Sara Wilcox, Family Therapist trainee.

My name is Sarah Wilcox and I’m a Family Therapist trainee and a white woman in a mixed relationship. I’m researching the experiences of UK based intercultural/ interracial couples during the anti-racist protests (Black Lives Matter) of 2020.

This project hopes to explore the experience of intercultural / interracial couples living together through this period in the UK including:

– How individuals understood this experience.
– How they feel it impacted their lives and conversations as a couple.
– Any differences in their experience of interactions within their networks and community.

It’s hoped that the project would benefit us by focusing on the unique current experience of UK based intercultural couples.

I’m looking for 3-4 participants, who would be willing to be interviewed via video call. The interview would be open-ended and last around 1-1.5 hours

Your personal details will be carefully anonymised, and you will have the chance to review the interview transcript before it is analysed. Your information will be stored securely. max.

The research has been ethically approved by the University of Bedfordshire and the Institute of Family Therapy.
