Mixed Heritage Children’s Identity Development
Are you a single parent or carer of mixed heritage children in London?
Your experiences are invaluable! I’m a final year Masters student studying
Systemic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust/University of Essex
and am conducting a study on
The Influence of Single Ethnic Parenting on Mixed Heritage Children’s Identity
Formation: A Study of Challenges and Opportunites in Developing Cohesive Identities and
the Implications for Culturally Responsive Family Therapy
Who Were Looking For:
– London based volunteers (within M25)
– Single parents or carers (aged 18 or over)
– Raising mixed heritage child/children
What’s Involved:
– Participate in a small Focus Group of single parent/carers
– Share your unique perspectives and experiences of raising mixed heritage child/children
– Contribute to important research in family dynamics and cultural dynamics
– Participation is entirely voluntary
Why Participate:
– Help advance understanding of mixed heritage families
– Contribute to research that may inform future support services
– Opportunity to reflect on your family’s journey
Your Privacy and Data:
– All personal information and data will be kept in accordance with GDPF guidance to
protect participant confidentiality and data security
– Data generated in the course of the research will be retained in accordance with
the Trust’s Data Protection and Handling Policies
This study has been approved by the relevant ethics committee. Your experiences and insights are
crucial in helping understand and support mixed heritage children and their families.
