Parenting Mixed-Race Children

A Call for Participants:
Experiences of parents with ‘mixed-race’ children, and their responsibilities towards engaging their child with their own ‘cultural heritage’.

I am currently conducting research for a small research project about the experiences of parents with ‘mixed-race’ children regarding their responsibilities towards engaging their child with the cultures of both parents. I am especially interested in the experiences of single parents, as a mixed-race child to a single mother myself, however I am intrigued by all experiences, regardless of family structure.

The aim for my project is broad, and so I would like to hear from as many people as possible about their experiences, and what they believe is relevant to them. I will be asking initial questions, but participants are free to direct their time to whatever aspects of the questions that interest them, and would be encouraged to go into further/different detail wherever they see fit.

I am happy to engage in any way that the participant feels most comfortable, be that face to face, over zoom, phone call, or simply over text.

Thanks for all of your responses, and to those who took part in the research which has now been completed. The research formed part of a Social Anthropology UG degree (2nd year) at the University of Manchester by Lily Roberts.
